Why Your Network Marketing Cookie Cutter System Isn't Working...

If you've been struggling to get your network marketing recruiting or marketing system to provide an actual commission check, you're not alone. In fact more people are failing in network marketing today than they were just ten years ago.

Statistics indicate that the majority of those involved in network marketing are not earning a profit. It’s not the fault of network marketing, it’s more likely to be the fault of the abundance of misinformation surrounding cookie cutter systems available online.

According to Web Marketing Expert and Leaders Club Trainer Glenn Burks, "Most people who buy into a system have no idea how to use that system." (as discussed in our free network marketing training video)

Most people are not aware of the fact that there are actually two types of systems...

The first are what we call the legitimate systems - it's designed to automate routine tasks and prevent the need to reinvent the wheel. You see this in place in traditional businesses like franchises, where support literature, store planning, even ad testing is supported by HQ and passed on to each franchisee. Yet each business member must have a level of understanding about the business and put in a certain effort and investment of their own to create success.

Then there are the "Golden Goose" systems - or cookie cutter systems - those that promise great success with little thought or input required on your part. These are the ones that make you into nothing more than a clone. The first red flag is that they often sound too good to be true.

To convince you, they often show you large checks, screen shots of payment records all implying that once you join (and pay them money) you too will earn the $50,000 or more like they do. What they don’t tell you is that not a single cookie cutter system has ever succeeded for more than a few years. Even the founders of these systems don’t profit for long.

The problem is that cookie cutter systems are nothing more than fables that prey on the greed and ignorance of their prospect. They offer little detail as to your role in the system, the true investment you need to make or what skills you will need to develop.

They also leave out one single key factor to consider when starting any business: competition.

Cookie cutter systems would have you believe that the opportunity to earn a profit remains the same regardless of how many fish are swimming in the pond. They tell you that it doesn’t matter how many people are promoting the same exact thing on AdWords, Twitter or YouTube, they can all be equally successful.

Common sense and logic (not to mention raw facts) dictate that the more people do the same exact thing the less success any individual will have. The basic rules of business dictate that to succeed under these conditions marketers will need to work hard at differentiating themselves and be creative in standing out from the herd.

The problem is that this isn’t much of an option in automated cookie cutter systems. It would require that every marketer create their own system from the ground up - from scratch - all with zero experience. That’s not very duplicatable. And isn’t that what cookie cutter systems use to promote themselves in the first place - that you can just plug in and make a lot of money by just doing the same thing as everyone else?

It’s by leaving out these details - whether by choice or ignorance – that dooms cookie cutter systems to failure. But you don’t need to become their next victim and what really works is actually easier too!

drive-success-animated2In the real world every business system requires skill and effort on the behalf of the participant. That’s why anyone would pay you to begin with. The difference is that while cookie cutter systems hide this fact, legitimate systems embrace it. They recognize that this is the key to real duplication and to lasting profits for everyone.

Rather than focus on getting rich quick by cutting cookies -focus on providing each new downline member with the foundational skill they need to implement a variety of promotional and follow-up strategies. It’s less about being the big fish in a small pond, than it is about knowing who your real prospects are and being able to connect with them in a way that won’t alienate them or add to their distrust and skepticism.

In essence, success in network marketing comes down to sustainable duplication. That’s duplicating results more than duplicating individual actions and being able to to that over and over - whether is with 10 people or 1000. That means giving people options for contacting their warm market, lead generation, follow-up and more - not in creating clones or in implementing the mass marketing strategies of traditional business.

When it comes to using traditional marketing methods in network marketing they just don't duplicate in large scale. You can only have so many people in your company advertising in the same place, prospecting in the same social sites or posting their videos on YouTube (at last count there were over 1/2 million business opportunity related videos on YouTube). These mass marketing strategies sometimes work very well - but only for a small handful of marketers - they are not mass duplicatable.

The key to success with a system is to know what makes a system work, duplicate and what your role in it really is.
